Eloise and Charlie are budding sailors.
Here is a sailing story that involves grandson Charlie and how he helped Grampa Boo win a single handed sailing race when it seemed hopeless…. the wind had died, the forcast was for no wind for the next 2 days and Grampa Boo was all alone.
The story of Little Charlie the Monarch butterfly
Grampa Boo was racing his sailboat when the wind stopped blowing. The boat was sitting on the lake not going anywhere when a beautiful butterfly landed on his shoulder.
The butterfly’s name was Little Charlie and knew all about Grampa Boo. Little Charlie was looking for Grampa Boo and found him floating on the lake unable to go anywhere because there was no wind. Grampa Boo talked with Little Charlie as there was nothing else to do.
Remember the time when Big Charlie saw cocoons on the side of the house? Big Charlie helped us grow and then set us free.
Little Charlie came looking for Grampa Boo to thank him for having such a special grandson. Big Charlie gave life to Little Charlie and for that Big Charlie is special.
Little Charlie asked what he could do to help Grampa Boo get back to land. Grampa Boo said that there was nothing he could do because he was so small.
Little Charlie laughed and said “You have never heard of the butterfly effect? A small change in initial conditions lead to drastic changes in the results”
Little Charlie left Grampa Boo’s shoulder and began flapping his wings and began to fly around the sailboat. At first nothing happened, and then there was a whisper of a breeze. The breeze developed into a strong wind and Grampa Boo was able to sail his boat back to land and win the sailing race.
Every time Grampa Boo sees a beautiful Monarch butterfly he thinks about Little Charlie and how lucky he is to have such a special grandson like Big Charlie
